Hanshi Dometrich's rank was 9th degree Black Belt
Hanshi Dometrich is the father of American Chito-ryu karate. He started teaching in 1955 and was certified by the Dai Nippon Butoku kai.

Meiyo Hanshi Barbara Dometrich continues to operate the Yoseikan Honbu
Basic goal of the Yoseikan:
To train our students in all aspects of the martial arts, spiritual, mental and physical.
Class Schedule:
Tuesday and Thursday night:
Beginners 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
All ranks 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Classes are separated as needed.
Pandemic Schedule:
White, Yellow and Orange Belts 6:30 p.m. to 7:10 p.m.
Green and Brown Belts 7:15 p.m. to 7:55 p.m.
Black Belts 8:00 p.m. to 8:40 p.m.
Saturday Morning:
All ranks 10:00 a.m. - 12 noon.
Classes are separated as needed.
Pandemic Schedule:
White, Yellow and Orange Belts 10:00 a.m. to 10:40 a.m.
Green and Brown Belts 10:45 a.m. to 11:25 a.m.
Black Belts 11:30 a.m. to 12:10 p.m.
Special classes are scheduled on the bulletin board for Summer training (Shochugeiko), Winter training (Kangeiko), Black Belt classes and other national events.
Tournaments are scheduled throughout the year, however this is not our main goal. We participate in AAU sponsored events and a few local tournaments.
At the Yoseikan, we do not start our members until they are 9 years of age. A few exceptions have been granted, if one or both parents are also members for instance.
Testing:
Testing is every three months for kyu ranks (under black belt). Black Belt testing is once a year in October.
Fees:
There is a fee for each test. However, if a test fee is paid and the student does not pass, that fee is retained until the student does pass. There are no refunds.
School Fees:
Youth 9 to 13 yrs: $40.00 per month.
14 yrs and up: $50.00 per month.
Family plan available.
We do not have contracts, you pay monthly. All we ask is that you tell us if you discontinue your training and we will no longer charge you membership fees.
Association membership fees:
$25.00 annual fee paid when you first join as a member. This fee is for administrative cost and renewable in January of each year.
Other fees:
There are fees for seminars, camps or other outside activities sponsored by the school. These fees are posted on the bulletin board prior to the event.
Equipment needed:
White Karate Uniform (cost will vary by size and brand).
Chito-ryu crest on uniform.
Beginners manual.
Workout area:
We have two areas for class use.
Students can come in early for class and use the area for warm up and practice before class.
The school stays open an extra half hour for those who want to practice after class.
We have men and women's, changing rooms with showers and lockers.
In Summary:
The Yoseikan Karate School is the oldest Karate School in the Cincinnati area with continuous operation, perhaps in the United States. Established 1961.
